Prickly Pear Cactus Margarita by Tipsy Gypsy

This summer, we partnered with Tipsy Gypsy Blog to create a series of beyond-the-ordinary margarita recipes using our Blanco and Reposado tequilas.  Let’s just say, we weren’t disappointed! The first in that series is this picture-perfect Prickly Pear Cactus Margarita.

This simple, fruity marg served on the rocks is just the ticket for dressing up your summer tablescape. Though it’s a little exotic, you may be able to order prickly pear through your favorite grocery store to make your own purée. But Tipsy Gypsy keeps this recipe simple with Prickly Pear Syrup. Find all kinds of options on Amazon.

If you’re wondering about the prickly pear’s flavor, it’s often described as a combination of watermelon and classic bubble gum. It has been used to make everything from vinaigrettes to candy, jam, and our favorite, cocktails. The prickly pear’s natural sweetness pairs perfectly with the robust taste of fresh agave from our Blanco tequila.

And according to this article, prickly pear has been linked to hangover relief. You may need a stronger extract than this recipe suggests, but what a bonus!
